Voluntary health organisations get on the web

December 16, 2014

Digital Inclusion for Health is a VHS initiative, designed to raise the voluntary health sector’s profile with the NHS, funders and service users, by harnessing the power of the web.

Funded by the Scottish Government, the project was delivered by VHS and website design cooperative graphics coop  during 2014.

The project recruited ten small voluntary health organisations from across Scotland, and provided practical support  resulting in each of them having fit for purpose websites.

We are developing a Digital Inclusion for Health website to tell the story of the project, to compare and contrast the old and new websites, and to share what the participants learned about developing their new websites.

The ten participants in 2014 were:

  • Safe Space  provides support for survivors of sexual abuse in Fife
  • Forth Valley Top Toes  is a volunteer-led, toe cutting service for older people
  • Braveheart  in Falkirk provides support and activities for people with long term conditions
  • North Glasgow Community Food Initiative is a community food and healthy eating initiative
  • East Renfrewshire Carers’ Centre offers support for carers
  • Lothian Community Health Initiatives Forum offers support for Lothian based health groups
  • Edinburgh M.E. Self Help Group (edmesh) is a self help group for people with  M.E.
  • Kingsway Court Health & Wellbeing Centre is  community health and wellbeing centre in Glasgow
  • Carers of East Lothian offers support for carers
  • Care Farming Scotland  supports people’s mental & physical health through working on the land
